About Us

Sue and Christoph Götting moved to Dairy Barn Farm in 1991, a redundant farmyard with a 17th Century barn, which they converted into their home. Their wish was to live the "good life", grow their own vegetables and rear their own meat.

With only a small acreage they began with Manx Loaghtan sheep and Dexter cattle, both Rare Breeds with outstanding eating qualities. So prolific were they that more land was soon required to accommodate the increasing numbers and, by 2007, in excess of 300 acres is now farmed around the Test Valley.

Farm gate sales of meat took off well, but so did the regulatory burden, which made this no longer possible. So in 1999, encouraged by friends and family, Sue opened the Dairy Barn Farm Shop in order to market the increasing volumes of meat being produced on the farm.

This successful, award winning, Farm Shop closed at the end of October 2007, giving way to the new Meat Box Scheme, enabling customers to continue purchasing Dairy Barn Farm's award winning meat, but at discounted prices.

Due to popular demand the Butchery has re-opened on Saturdays from 9.00am to 4.00pm.

Meat will continue to be sold at Farmers’ Markets and at discounted prices through the Meat Box Scheme.
